THE BASIC THEORY OF OUR SYSTEM
For grinding a roller, if the length of roller (L) and the feed rate (F) are known, we can get the grinding time(T) by L/F = T.
For example:
A. | Length of Roller: | 2,000 MM |
Feed Rate | 20MM / Minute | |
Grinding Time: | 2,000 / 20 = 100 Minutes = 6,000 Seconds |
B. | Length of Roller: | 100" |
Feed Rate | 2" / Minute | |
Grinding Time: | 100 / 2 = 50 Minutes = 3,000 Seconds |
HOW TO CALCULATE THE TIME NEEDED TO GRIND A ROLL
L = length of rollT = grinding time (seconds)
- Disassemble1. Measure the length of roll face to be ground………..MM.
- Set the spindle speed of the lathe……………………RPM.
- Set the feed speed of the tool carriage……………….MM/SEC.
- Use timer to measure the time needed for tool carriage to move 100 MM.
N = seconds. - Divide L by 100 and multiply by N to get total grinding time T = (L / 100) x N
(Total grinding time in seconds) - Input the total grinding time T by time setting switch on the control panel.
The range is 60 to 59,999 seconds.
EXAMPLE: N = 120 seconds
T = (2000/100) x 120 = 2400 seconds
